MMA, MMTC & JAMA Partner with to Launch Site Linking Michigan Manufacturing Buyers to Suppliers

May 10, 2011

In an effort to help Michigan manufacturers "Buy Local" and be more competitive, the Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA), Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC) and Jackson Area Manufacturers Association (JAMA) have teamed up with Atlanta-based—the largest global online sourcing marketplace for manufacturers—to create a website designed to exclusively connect Michigan manufacturer suppliers and buyers.

The site was unveiled today at the MMA's 2011 CEO & Executive Forum as part of Michigan Manufacturing Week.

"MMA is very excited about this new partnership that will enable Michigan manufacturers looking to buy products and services to connect with Michigan-based companies who can provide them—it's a great way to help strengthen our home-team supply chain. This really fits in with the Governor's idea of having companies work together to help each other, and will streamline the process for manufacturers seeking to 'Buy Michigan First" said Chuck Hadden, President of MMA."

Hadden was joined at the launch by MMTC President Mike Coast, JAMA Executive Director Bill Rayl and representatives from including CEO Mitch Free and Roger Blumberg, VP of Business Development.

"MMTC wants Michigan manufacturers to have more opportunities to secure new sales and offers a unique option," stated Mike Coast, President of the MMTC. "The approach of the site, linking one Michigan manufacturer with another, is a win-win scenario in the making and aligns with our mission to help small and medium-sized manufacturers prosper."

Via this site, Michigan manufacturers are able to purchase goods and services from each other, creating a better awareness of resources within the state. The opportunities posted on this service will be available only to and from Michigan companies, thereby supporting a "Buy Michigan" supply chain strategy and allowing manufacturing companies across the state to connect directly with each other to better serve their needs.

"Here at JAMA, we're constantly helping area manufacturers find world-class quality local suppliers," said Bill Rayl, JAMA's Executive Director. "This new online service makes it easy for buyers all across the state to quote their projects and for potential suppliers to review and bid on those opportunities."

The site will be heavily promoted statewide to Michigan's diverse manufacturing base by MMA, MMTC and JAMA. Buyers registering via the Michigan site's landing page at are granted six months' access to the service for free. Suppliers who register for the service through the Michigan landing page receive an optimized profile, Supplier Directory listing and access to the opportunity postings from all Michigan buyers for just $99 a month.

"The Michigan sourcing portal will effectively support economic development within Michigan through intelligently connecting local manufacturing buyers and suppliers at the exact moment they need each other," says Mitch Free, Founder & CEO of, "We are extremely excited to be part of this initiative that is enabling the manufacturing community in Michigan."
