MARIETTA, Ga. Oct. 11, 2017 – MFG.com, the world’s largest online manufacturing marketplace, is pleased to announce the promotion of Michael T. Vining to the position of vice president of marketplace operations. The position, created specifically for him, reflects his wide-ranging understanding of the platform in its current configuration and a deep appreciation for the potential it holds for all of its stakeholders.

Vining first served as a strategic consultant to MFG.com, offering counsel and advice to executive management as they charted a new course for the marketplace. Later, in 2015, he became sales manager and worked to increase supplier subscriptions and expand both the quality and amount of opportunities available to buyers and suppliers. His efforts contributed not only to customer base expansion but also the addition of major international firms and government entities to the roster of entities using MFG.com as a sourcing resource. In 2016, he became director of sales, leading the sales force toward the objective of solidifying and expanding the platform’s position as the industry leader in global, online sourcing.

In commenting on his promotion, Vining says, “The past seven years have equipped me with rare perspective on the marketplace and its functioning. In particular, I’ve gained true insight into the platform’s strengths and weaknesses and ways in which operations can better serve buyers, suppliers and other constituents. I am committed to making marketplace operations even better and bringing to the fore the kinds of resources our users need to optimize their activities, whether as buyer or supplier.”

Bo Hagler, chief executive officer, MFG.com, says, “In his tenure with MFG.com, Michael has demonstrated an ability to articulate and implement the broad strategic vision we hold for the platform. In fact, his understanding of the marketplace and its member personas is helping us chart the path toward a more modern, easy-to-use platform. I am confident that Michael will not only optimize marketplace operations but also identify new areas for growth and development.”

Before joining MFG.com, Vining held senior sales positions with two providers of internet, voice and data solutions in the Atlanta area. He holds a bachelor of science from the University of Georgia conferred with honors.
