Introduction Saturn Machine is a privately held corporation that became involved in the design and fabrication of coke oven equipment during the mid-1960's. Saturn is the innovator in the production of coke oven door machines, charge cars, door extractors, jamb cleaners, door cleaners and other related coke oven equipment. Saturn's positive attitude toward responding to customer requirement is surpassed only by its ability to provide state-of-the-art technologically sound coke oven equipment. Assistance from Saturn's experienced staff, and a variety of advanced equipment, combined with our 50 ft tall fabrication shop and four overhead bridge cranes, large structural work is easily handled to guarantee customer satisfaction. Saturn facilities are located on 6 acres at the Sturgis Airport in Sturgis, Kentucky. Saturn is ideally situated to serve clients being adjacent to three, 5,000-foot concrete runways. Clients traveling via private/company aircraft will find Saturn's client-reception area only 300 yards from the airport administration building. Convenience is an important factor in our customer-satisfaction policy. Saturn plans to build a stronger market position in the United States, due to its industry experience and mild competitive climate in North America. The Company Saturn Machine Welding Company is incorporated in the state of Kentucky. It is owned by Bill C. Baird and overseen by Charles Lynch, President. Mr. Baird has extensive experience in the coke oven equipment industry. He has been designing and manufacturing coke oven equipment for over 40 years. Mr. Lynch brings 10 years of experience with the coke oven industry, combined with strong business attributes. The company employees 52 highly skilled and certified personnel and intends to hire 25 additional employees within the next 3 years to handle the highly anticipated future work load. Products and Services In addition to fabricating special steel products, Saturn Machine has developed a new line of coke oven doors, door cleaners, and jamb cleaners. We employ professional engineers specializing in the design of these heavy-duty steel products. Our patented designs compared to other leading brand names surpass all in durability. With capabilities to design and fabricate under one roof, errors are almost completely eliminated. Products made to suit the customer, down to the smallest detail. Quality control personnel, design and skilled machinists are organized into one administrative team capable of producing a job from concept to the finished product. All operations are carefully monitored—in process and upon completion. Once the customer has fully inspected the product, our trucks then deliver to their door. Total control and customer approval guarantee their satisfaction. Strategy and ImplementationIn order to reassure our customers of our ability to handle additional work loads, Saturn must be prepared to move forward when bids are awarded and purchase orders are received. In August 2008 Saturn erected a 2,100 sq. ft. material warehouse to accommodate the overflow of material for the five door machines Saturn was awarded this year. A 5,000 sq. ft. building is being erected currently with a 10 ton overhead crane for the production of coke oven doors. This will open our current high bay for the building of large machines. Saturn has already negotiated with a river port company to make it possible to ship equipment by barge. This will allow large machines to be shipped fully assembled. Saturn Machine is the only manufacturer of coke oven equipment in the United States. Our facility is readily accessible for our customers to make inspections of equipment during the manufacturing process and prior to shipping. Management Team Bill Baird has 40 years experience in the design and manufacturing of coke oven equipment. Charles Lynch, President, has 10 years experience with the manufacturing of coke oven equipment and possesses strong business attributes. Julie Quinn has 21 years experience in the area of finance and administration, and is Controller at Saturn. Michael Morrow as purchasing agent has 21 years of purchasing, shipping and receiving experience at Saturn. Jim Bernier has 20 years experience as a mechanical designer and is Head of Engineering. Ben Stadelman is new to Saturn but brings with him 21 years of electrical experience. Gary Thornton is shop foreman and has been with Saturn for 8 years.
