Johnson Precision Mold and Engineering, Inc. was started in October 1990 to provide the highest quality on-time tooling at an affordable price. We are experienced in building both high-performance production tools and short-run aluminum prototypes. We have a broad experience base in design and construction of tooling for automotive, medical, computer, and various other companies. Our expertise also includes machining of plastic parts, wood models and production machining, both short and long runs. We also design and build fixturing for de-gating, heat-staking, and assembly of plastic parts. Johnson Precision Mold is committed to exceptional quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction. All design is done in-house with the emphasis on tooling integrity and long-term performance. Whether data is supplied in the form of wire-frame or surface geometry, part print, or simply a concept, construction can begin in just a few short days. Depending on customer demands, documentation can be provided in the form of anything from a simple layout to a fully detailed CAD drawing. An equipment list is available to provide an idea of the scope of capabilities our company has to offer. All equipment has been purchased new or in excellent condition, with an emphasis on cutting edge technology. We have installed two seats of the latest CAD/CAM version of Cimatron 90 and one seat of the latest version of Unigraphics with solids to enable us to go from floppy disk to finished product by utilizing the capabilities of CAD, along with CAM capabilities of a 1997 Milltronics VM-17 High Speed Vertical CNC Machining Center and 1996 Partner 04 Vertical CNC Machining Center. In March of 1999 a DeVlieg (horizontal) Jigmil was installed to increase the scope of work we will be capable of doing. This machine is a full 3D CNC with the ability to digitize existing parts and has the capacity to machine large tooling. The EDM capabilities at Johnson Precision Mold allow for the construction of large 3D cavities to be produced and complex parting lines established. Wire EDM is also used whenever possible to improve quality and expedite delivery. As of August 1996 we relocated to a new 7,200 square foot building in the Stapleton Industrial Park just north of the Sturgis Airport in Sturgis, Michigan. Projected sales for coming years are expected to increase significantly, with the focus on broadening our customer base. Staffing will increase in both the areas of design and manufacturing, along with the addition of any necessary equipment needed to reach this goal.
