TITLE:

Senior Tool Maker

LOCATION: Tool Room Apopka

This position requires the repair and maintenance of high-volume, Thermoplastic Injection Molds.

Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for:

1) Working in a diverse team towards a common goal

2) Adjusting to the changing needs of a fast-paced manufacturing environment

3) Problem-solving and continuously improving safety, part quality, and productivity

Key Responsibilities include:

4) Develop Junior Tool Makers by training through challenging tasks and assignments; provide developmental feedback and direct mentorship.

5) Perform preventive maintenance on thermoplastic injection molds

6) Troubleshoot injection mold issues

7) Perform mold repairs and engineering changes that include welding and hand finishing.

8) Make replacement components for both tooling and production equipment when needed by means of tool room equipment

9) Operate tool room machinery such as vertical mill, surface grinder, drill press, CNC, EDM, various hand tools, cutters, grinders, etc.

10) Works with management and other stakeholders to create opportunities for improved efficiencies and profitability.

11) Support the Production department with any item tooling related (i.e., water leak, hot runner issue, part quality)

12) Use of mobile equipment (crane, fork truck)

13) Perform basic administrative duties including computer data entry and record keeping.

14) Maintain a clean and safe workspace

Major Responsibilities: % of Time

Operate tool room machinery such as vertical mill, surface grinder, drill press,

Perform preventive maintenance on thermoplastic injection molds ensuring mold is clean and free from defects and damage 10%

Use of mobile equipment (crane, fork truck) 10%

Troubleshoot injection mold issues regarding quality and productivity problems. 5%

Support the Production department with any item tooling related (i.e., water leak, hot runner issue, part quality) 5%

Make replacement components for both tooling and production equipment when needed by means of tool room equipment. 5%

Qualifications and Physical Demands:

Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Must have good communication skills.

Must have attention to detail.

Perform basic math calculations.

Work well in a team environment.

Ability to lift to 70 lbs.

Must be able to bend, sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
