Senior CNC Programmer / Field Applications Specialist

Your tasks:

  • Field support for qualification and runoff of new machines; programming, development/tryout of new cutting sequences; production support; training of customer personnel on programming and operation of Millturn machines
  • Half of work time will be spent on assignment at customer sites across the U.S. and Canada
  • Analyze and evaluate complex 2-D part drawings and 3-D models for best-practice Millturn machining process design in respect to machining efficiency, cycle time and quality
  • Discuss machining process related topics with customer and applications department at WFL headquarters in Austria

Your profile:

  • Two-year technical degree, or completion of a four-year machinist apprenticeship, plus a minimum of 6 years of proven work experience in CNC programming and process development for multi-axes multi-function CNC metal cutting machines
  • Ability to read and evaluate complex 2-D part drawings and 3-D models
  • Strong background and practical experience in applied metal cutting by means of turning, milling and drilling
  • Solid understanding of the function and intricacies of CNC machines, workholding principles and tool setup
  • Experienced in setup and programming of multi-axes multi-function machine tools in CAD/CAM as well as manual programming
  • Firm understanding of G&M function codes
  • Experience with Sinumerik 840D control system
  • Work experience on WFL or other Millturn-type multi-function CNC metal cutting machines preferred
  • Ability to work in conditions of a typical industrial plant environment, which could be hot, cold, noisy and dusty
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel)
  • Customer-directed and service oriented
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearances
  • English, verbal and written
