Full Job Description

Job Summary:

Locally owned manufacturing business in the rail industry is seeking an experienced Press Brake Operator. The position sets up and operates power and or hydraulic press brakes. Uses total length of brake to bend, notch, punch, form rolls, or straighten metal plates or sheet metal per blueprints or templates.

Shifts and Hours:

  • Day Shift: Monday-Thursday 5:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Compensations:

  • Non-exempt, pay will be commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Operate brake and set up Press Break.
  • Must be able to select, preset and install proper tooling and fixtures of press brakes.
  • Run first piece and assure conformance to drawing.
  • Monitor Press Brake production processes at appropriate intervals to ensure continued part compliance.
  • Monitor production to ensure conformance with process sheet and time standards.
  • Monitor machine maintenance for lubrication, guarding and cleanliness.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Requires strong math skills including conversation of fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
  • Requires ability to visualize how to take a flat pattern and identify the sequence and settings required to program the machine to produce the finished part to print.
  • Requires basic understanding of 3D models.
  • Must have ability to use dial and Vermeer calipers as well as machinist squares and protractors.
  • Ability to fabricate tools for simple forms.

Education and Other Requirements:

  • Able to lift 70lbs or less.
  • Must pass background and drug screen.
  • Must be able to work in a team with others.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and take direction.

Working Conditions:

  • Must follow personal protective equipment policies.
  • Work in manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise and fumes.
  • Fast-paced environment with moving objects, sharp edges, and congested work area.
  • Will be pushing, pulling, kneeling, reaching overhead, grasping, and lifting to 70 pounds.
