Located 35 minutes north of Toronto's Pearson International Airport, in the rural community of Schomberg, Ontario, B.C. Instruments has been serving customers in the aerospace, defense, medical, nuclear and electronic industries since 1971 when the company started in the Conzelmann's garage.

Our present size is 40,000 square feet with 150 employees and sales of $25 million for 2007. To meet the increased requests of our customers to provide components complete with processing, B.C. Instruments, together with the Uetz family, started Aerospace Metal Finishing in 1988. AMF is located next door to BCI, and has 15,000 square feet of production facilities with 45 employees and sales of $5 million for 2007. In 1990 AMF teamed with Staveley Inspection Services to provide magnetic particle and liquid penetrant inspection on site.

Utilizing modern CNC equipment, our skilled employees specialize in the manufacture of small to medium size components and assemblies requiring close tolerance of up to +/- .0025 mm. At present, our equipment can handle parts within a 1000 x 630 x 500 mm size range for milling and up to 300 mm diameter for turning. We also have the capability and experience to work with customers through the research and development stage of new projects.

Thin Wall Castings: We have extensive experience in machining thin wall investment castings of the most intricate and complex shapes. These castings are most often used as enclosures for the Inertial Navigation Guidance Systems in aircraft and missiles.

We offer a number of machines that utilize high speed spindles, high pressure coolant and constant chip evacuation to machine components at high metal removal rates. We have spent considerable time and effort to develop many unique high speed machining techniques to use resources more efficiently. At B.C. Instruments, we have the ability to translate most known formats of CAD data, including Step AP203 for manufacturing customer parts. In addition we can support most known native formats such as Catia, Pro E and Unigraphics.

We have in-house capacity to machine parts requiring Gun Drilling, Honing, Laser Engraving, Single and Dual Face Lapping, Helium Leak Testing and Bonding using structural adhesive films and liquids to military and federal specifications. We have in house EB welding as well as ultrasonic machining for materials over 60 rc.

In addition to conventional materials, we are experienced in working with such exotic materials as Hy-Mu 80, Titanium, Inconel 718, A-286, Monel, Haynes Alloy 41 (Rene 41), metal matrix composites (MMC) and ceramics. In 2005 we opened a precision manufacturing facility in Gujarat India.
