fused quartz or fused silica

This RFQ was sourced on www.MFG.com in USA for Pour Molding / Reaction Molding (2-Part Poly)

Buyer needs pieces of fused quartz or fused silica to act as the protective windows of UVC light bulbs. Buyer does not need image quality pieces, and buyer can tolerate defects (i.e. we are seeking low quality grade). Yet whether silica or quartz, the transmission ratio of UV needs to be high (at least 75+%) to allow the UV light to pass through. That means the glass has to be clear to achieve the UV transmission. Dimensions for each piece are 2.8 inches wide x 8.9 inches long x 0.12 of an inch think (or 71mm X 226mm X 3mm). Approximately 1,000 pieces needed per month starting out. Buyer is shooting for a low cost on this, as the volume is significant and will grow going forward. Please contact buyer for questions by email.

Pour Molding / Reaction Molding (2-Part Poly): Pour molding is commonly used to make miniature or small parts and parts with simple geometry. A pattern is made and faceted to a work surface. A dam is built around the work surface to contain molten metal or plastic, which is poured into the pattern by a sprue, or channel from the heated chamber.
