Need to construct mast for a Navy ship - 40’ long, 36" OD,
0.35-0.75" wall
Initial design calls for 8’ long sections of plate,
rolled, seam-welded, then butt welded to
make the 40’
Want to consider centrifugal castings to eliminate rolling
and seam welding required for plate.
Will consider castings as short as 6-1/2 feet for butt
welding and/or mechanical joining to
make the length, but longer castings desired to minimize
butt joints/mechanical joints
Order to be placed within next 60 days. This is for
prototype - production quantities not
known
X-ray or UT quality required
