We have multiple CNC automatic spinning equipment as well manual spinning, allowing us to accomodate a wide range of spun components for the Aerospace industry, Commercial and Industrial hardware producers, Architectural uses and many more. We spin most metals, including Stainless Steel, Inconel, Hastelloy, Nickels, Aluminum, and Brass & Copper, lo carbon steel and Titanium. Diameters range from 1/2" to 48", thickness from .010 through .250 Stainless & Steel, .375" in Aluminum. We have stock sizes in Hemispheres, table bases and cones. Acme Metal Spinning provides small to large metal spinnings in sizes from 1/2" diameter up to 140 inch diameters. Typical parts are utilized in cryogenic tanks, tank heads, medical devices, chemical processing, vacuum systems, architectural, and dust collecting systems. From print to parts, shipments can be made within 72 hours.
Acme's metal spinning is competitive with die casting, stamping, hydroforming, deep drawing, and commonly has lower tooling costs than other processes. Another advantage is the ability to modify tooling inexpensively for prototype work or test marketing as designs change. Acme also has a large inventory of various sized tooling for hemispheres, cylinders, domes, cones and heads that can be utilized to keep tooling costs minimal.
Acme has more than 100 years experience performing metal spinning operations with highly skilled craftsmanship. Combined with proprietary CNC equipment including a 100 horsepower, 2 roller spinning system which produces parts up to 60 inch diameter and up to 3/4 inch thick steel.

Metal spinning involves spinning a flat sheet of metal -- usually in the shape of a disk -- at a controlled speed. A "spinning mandrel" is used in stead of a clamping chuck. The mandrel is made to the from that corresponds with the contour of the part to be spun. A blank is placed between the mandrel and the tail stock of the lathe. Spinning rollers or spinning tools are then used against the blank with a series of axial movement. These movements are done with radial or swivel strokes either by hand or auxiliary force. As the blank flows against the mandrel the thickness can change.
Today with new machines and better tooling, most metals and alloys can be spun.
