What is Fused Dep Model (FDM)?


Fused deposition modeling is a rapid prototyping technique in which a melted thermoplastic is extruded through a special nozzle onto a work surface. The thermoplastic is extruded in the shape of the cross section of the prototype and it quickly solidifies on the work surface. The work surface descends to accommodate the next cross section layer, and the process is repeated until the prototype is complete.
