Western Red Cedar is also known as Pacific Red Cedar, and Oregon Cedar. The soft reddish brown timber is valued for its distinct appearance, pleasant aroma, and its high resistance to rot, insects, and decay. It can remain sound for over 100 years. It is often used in outdoor construction like trellises, pergolas, arbors, decks, etc. The sapwood is a whitish colour and the heart wood ranges from a light yellowish brown to a dark brown chocolate color.

Spruce, Yellow Cedar, Western Hemlock, Black Walnut, and Oak are some of the other species we have milled. Straight Edge Milling can mill any specie you need milled. Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar are the two most common species used in timber and beam work and therefore are the only species kept in stock.
